Conflict transformation focuses on understanding and addressing the root causes of conflict and the underlying conditions which lead to violence, hatred, and insecurity. Rather than focusing on quelling specific instances of violent conflict, as in traditional understandings of conflict resolution and peace building, conflict transformation looks to transform the relationships and structures which create an environment in which conflict erupts.
