Mitchell Green

Crowd Manager Training

Training session designed for individuals responsible for overseeing events and gatherings on campus. This training provides essential knowledge on fire prevention, emergency response procedures, and safe crowd management practices in compliance with state fire code requirements. Participants will learn how to identify potential hazards, initiate evacuations, and coordinate with emergency services to help ensure the safety of all attendees. This training is required for event organizers, student leaders, and staff involved in campus programming with more than 50 people in attendance.

Narcan Training

1-hour workshop to get trained to administer Narcan and learn the context of the bio-psycho-social elements of opioids, overdose reversals, and trends in substance misuse. Each participant will receive a dose of Narcan to take with them.

CPR/AED

A Hands-Only CPR and AED training session designed to provide participants with the essential skills to respond confidently in emergency situations. This hands-on class will cover the basics of adult CPR and the proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). While this course does not result in official certification, it is an excellent opportunity to gain life-saving knowledge in a supportive and practical learning environment. All are welcome. No prior experience required. Seats are limited- please register here.

In collaboration with the Middlebury Snowbowl Ski Patrol we are offering a Stop the Bleed training session to equip participants with the skills needed to recognize and respond to life-threatening bleeding emergencies. This hands-on course teaches how to apply direct pressure, pack wounds, and use a tourniquet- critical techniques that can help sustain life before emergency responders arrive. No prior medical experience is necessary, and all are encouraged to attend. Empower yourself to make a difference in an emergency. Learn to Stop the Bleed!

Campus-Wide Shelter In Place Drill

As part of Middlebury’s commitment to emergency preparedness, we will be conducting a campuswide Shelter in Place Drill on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 2:00 to 2:10 p.m. on the Middlebury, VT campus. This exercise is intended to familiarize our community with response terminology and to practice procedures for immediately seeking shelter to avoid a threat or hazard occurring outdoors.

Whether you’re curious about the equipment, interested in fire service careers, or just want a hands-on experience for all ages, this is a great way to engage with your local fire department. You’re invited to a powerful and eye-opening Dorm Fire Demonstration, presented in collaboration with the Middlebury Fire Department and Residential Life. This live event will simulate how quickly a dorm room fire can spread and highlight the importance of fire safety and preparedness on campus. Don’t miss this dramatic demonstration and the chance to learn lifesaving tips directly from fire safety professionals. Plus, attendees will have the opportunity to earn a stamp on their weekly attendance passport! All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend.
