CTLR uses MiddApply to manage many of its application processes. 

Below are general MiddApply FAQs. For additional information:

  • Contact the individual programs for application information. 
  • Search the Apply knowledgebase for platform questions.
  • Contact Colleen Norden for all other questions.
     
MiddApply

Applicants

A

A list of Middlebury programs that use MiddApply are on the homepage. Each program may have multiple applications available for students, faculty, or staff. Once you find the opportunity you want, select the green “Apply” button and you will be prompted to login.

To login: If you are a current Middlebury College community member, select “Log In” in the upper right corner and then Middlebury SSO. Alumni and graduate students need to use SurveyMonkey Apply under “Log In.” Options will include using an account like Google or registering for a SurveyMonkey account in the upper right corner.

Once you have logged in, you will be able to begin an application and return to your portal to continue or create a new one. Some programs will have award details and follow up tasks available in the portal after your initial application submission. Please see the opportunity’s specific instructions for more information.

You may need to refresh your connection to MiddApply.

Try a fresh browser: If you have trouble logging in or continuing your application, first make sure you are logged out in Chrome. Next open a new Chrome browser. Log into your Middlebury Google account with your Middlebury email address and password. After you successfully log into you Middlebury Google account, then paste https://middlebury.smapply.io/ into the address bar to go to MiddApply and then go to “Log In” and “Middlebury SSO” or log in using your SurveyMonkey account.

Try a private (incognito) browser tab: Open a new private (incognito) tab in your browser. Go to https://middlebury.smapply.io/ and “Log In” with “Middlebury SSO.” You will be prompted to sign into Middlebury with your Middlebury username and password using authentication (if set up). Or log in using your SurveyMonkey account.

Each program has a customized application. Please follow the instructions they provide on their website or within the application to complete your application. Remember to use the green “Submit button after you have completed the necessary application tasks.

Each application process may contain multiple stages. Each stage has a list of associated tasks on the left menu bar. Ones you have completed have a green check. Ones that aren’t complete have a dotted circle. Click on the next undone task on the left bar to continue.

If you have completed all the required tasks the submit button will turn green. You must click the green submit button to submit for this stage. Your application status will then change. The actual status depends on the program and application stage. Examples statuses are submitted, under review, follow-up, and closed.

If your application is returned for changes, it will be reopened so you can edit. Return to your application that needs changes in the MiddApply portal and click “Continue.” 

  • Select the task from the list  that needs changes. 
  • Once you are in the task, select the three dots in the upper right corner and select edit from the pop-up menu. 
  • Make the changes you need, then scroll to the bottom and select “Mark as Complete.”
  • The changes will be saved so you can now select the green “Submit” button to resubmit your application.

If your MiddApply user account only offers you a Recommender or Reviewer option when you log in, you need to have the applicant role added to your account. Email Colleen Norden to have it added.

Recommenders

A

You can log into MiddApply at any time to see if you have pending recommendation requests without the request email. Choose the recommender role if you are prompted when logging in.

The recommender forms with directions are customized for each program. The directions are also included in the email request a recommender receives.
