Visual artist James Turrell states that all light comes from something burning. In Simply Light, the vitality of the performers matches the vibrancy of the choreography to illuminate through inner and outer light. The 30th anniversary repertory season features choreographers whose collaboration with the Company spans three decades: Artistic Director Andrea Olsen and Peter Schmitz/since 1982, Paul Matteson '00/alum, Catherine Cabeen/new faculty, and current student Cameron McKinney '14 presenting a hip hop suitewith original video projections. Guest performer Paul Matteson dances a solo created by Schmitz.
Dynamic company members include Doug LeCours '15, Jessica Lee '13, Cameron McKinney '14, Hannah Pierce '13, Sarae Snyder '15, and Meredith White '15. Lighting is by Jennifer Ponder, celebrating her 15th year with the Company. Composers include Kane Mathis, Michael Chorney, and David Darling. DCM will tour to Smith College, San Francisco, and the Monterey Institute for International Studies following the Middlebury College premiere.
