Champlain Valley Clay Symposium
Welcome to the home page for the 2012 Champlain Valley Clay Symposium, which was held June 1, 2012 from 9:00 – 4:00 at McCardell Bicentennial Hall on the campus of Middlebury College. The symposium was sponsored by Annelid Environmental Services PLLC and co-sponsored by Middlebury College and the USDA-NRCS. Please click on links below for information about the symposium.
The goal of the symposium is to present and integrate information pertaining to the clay-rich soils of the Champlain Valley. The agenda includes geological origin of the clay soils, the natural ecology of the Champlain Valley clay plain, the mineralogy and chemistry of clays, agricultural considerations of clay soils, a panel on environmental and engineering issues, mapping of clay soils, and a field trip with field demonstrations of techniques in clay soils west of Middlebury College.
