Abby Manzella '98
Since Abby graduated from Middlebury with double majors in Music and American Literature, she has pursued interests in both of those areas. She worked at New England Conservatory of Music, earned an M.A. from the University of Virginia in American Studies, an M.Litt. from Middlebury’s Bread Loaf School of English, and her Ph.D. in English and American Literature from Tufts University. Currently at work on her manuscript, Permanent Transients: The Temporary Spaces of Internal Migration in Four 20th-Century Novels by U.S. Women Writers, Abby is Visiting Assistant Professor of English at Stern College for Women/Yeshiva University in New York City. At Stern she teaches American literature, race and gender studies, and film. Her music background serves her particularly well for her course on the Hollywood musical.
