Recently praised for his "oaky, dark baritone voice" (Boston Globe), Tevan is delighted to be making his fourth appearance at the Middlebury Bach Festival, his first as an alum. He most recently performed as a soloist in 2018's St. John Passion with guest conductor John Butt. Though he majored in environmental policy, Tevan was heavily involved in musical life at Middlebury, performing as a member of the Middlebury Collegium, Middlebury College Choir, the Opera Company of Middlebury, and programming WRMC's only classical radio show, among other activities. Last April, he and fellow alum Annie Beliveau '18 organized a Rothrock Family Residency to bring composer Caroline Shaw to campus. Tevan is a former member of the Schola Cantorum of Oxford, with whom he sang while studying abroad in 2017. Last July, he studied German lieder with Grammy-nominated baritone Randall Scarlata at the Alpenkammermusik festival in Austria. Tevan recently moved to the Boston area, where he now sings with the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Tanglewood Festival Choir, the Cantata Singers, and the Choir of King's Chapel. He is a former student of Carol Christensen at Middlebury. When not singing, Tevan works as a policy fellow at the Solstice Initiative, a community solar company in Cambridge, MA.
