Why did I want to be a Senior Fellow?
I'm crazy about Middlebury and want to tell people about the great experiences I've had here.
What was my college search like?
I wanted to go to a school with strong science and foreign language programs, and after visiting campus and talking with students and professors, Middlebury felt like a great fit.
Why Middlebury?
I felt connected to Middlebury the second I first visited campus and noticed how excited everyone-students and professors-seemed to be here!
What is life at Middlebury like?
Choosing a major
I've always been interested in environmental science, and meeting my advisor during freshman year helped me make the decision to major in environmental studies with a focus in chemistry.
The biggest challenge in transitioning to college
Waking up early! I joined the crew team my first week at school and spent my freshman fall semester getting up for 4:45 AM practices.
Fondest memory of Middlebury
Going for a bike ride with the entire team on the first warm (35 degree) day last spring.
Favorite class or professor
Instrumental Analysis with professors Molly Costanza-Robinson and Jim Larrabee. The class was an upper level college writing course in the chemistry department, and in addition to learning how to use four analytical instruments, we wrote and reviewed four journal-style articles.
What I do in my spare time
I spend as much time outside as possible, either riding my bike, running or hiking with friends. I also love to cook and taught a baking workshop with one of my friends during J-Term last year.
What I did this past summer
I worked for the US Environmental Protection Agency at its Region 8 Headquarters in Denver, CO, studying pharmaceutical residues in area wastewater.
