Paul Strand in Vermont: 1943–1946

Paul Strand (1890–1976), arguably one of the greatest photographers in the history of the medium, photographed Vermont on a number of occasions during the 1940s. Richard Saunders, Museum Director and Professor of History of Art and Architecture, will give context to Strand’s Vermont photographs, many of which are on view in the museum’s current exhibition Paul Strand in Vermont: 1943–1946. Reception to follow in the lobby. Presented by the Middlebury College Museum of Art. Free

Curated by master tattoo artist and author Takahiro Kitamura and created and photographed by artist and author Kip Fulbeck, this exhibition explores the craftsmanship of traditional Japanese tattooing and its roots in the arts of calligraphy and ukiyo-e woodblock printmaking.   Full-scale photographs showcasing the splendor of modern works by seven internationally-acclaimed Japanese-style tattoo artists. Free
