Middlebury College Museum of Art, Overbrook Gallery
Paintings, prints, and photographs from the Museum’s permanent collection are the basis of this exhibition focused on the idea and the presentation of celebrity. Highlights include Polaroid portraits by Andy Warhol and photographs of famous men by Arnold Newman. Free

Japanese School: Rakugo Performance
8:00 P.M., Wright Memorial Theatre
Rakugo is a traditional Japanese comedic storytelling art in which the performer sits on a cushion on stage and tells a story using only a fan and towel as props. In Kamikiri, the performer receives a request from the audience and then cuts an image out of a plain piece of paper without drawing any outline. Spanish School: Sarazino Concert
9:30 P.M., McCullough Social Space
Hailing from Quito, Ecuador, the band Sarazino blends flavors of Latin grooves, Jamaican reggae, African melodies, and Arab rhythms into an exciting, dance-inspiring mezcla. Representing the multikulti mestizo musical movement popularized by artists such as Manu Chao, Ojos de Brujo, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and others, Sarazino is touring the U.S. for the first time and bringing their infectious sound to major stages across the country. French School Film: La France divisée
7:00 P.M., Warner Hemicycle
La France divisée is a 36-minute documentary that explores the two sides of France during World War II. Both collaborators and resisters are seen through the eyes of seven French people: four survivors of the Holocaust (one deportee who returned from a series of concentration camps and three child survivors who were hidden children in Vichy France); two historians (including Serge Klarsfeld); and Lucie Aubrac, leader of the French Resistance. It was produced and directed by Barbara P. Barnett and Eileen M. Angelini. A discussion with Eileen Angelini will follow the screening. In French with English subtitles. Bread Loaf Acting Ensemble: Mad Forest
8:00 P.M. each evening, Burgess Meredith Little Theatre, Bread Loaf mountain campus
Each summer, the Bread Loaf School of English brings professional actors to the Vermont campus to assist in mounting the summer’s major production. This year, they present Caryl Churchill's Mad Forest, an incisive drama focusing on the Romanian revolution of 1989. Tickets are free, but reservations are required. Portuguese School: Richard Miller's "Rhythms of Brazil"
9:30 P.M., Mahaney Center for the Arts, Concert Hall
Richard Miller and his acoustic guitar bring us music in several rhythmic styles, including Xote and Bossa Nova. Accompanied by Roberto Berimbau on percussion and Gigi McLaughlin on the accordion, Miller's "Rhythms of Brazil" brings together a combination of styles whose origins span from southeastern to northern Brazil. School of Russian: Zolotoi Plyos Concert
8:00 P.M., Town Hall Theater
Zolotoi Plyos perform a wide range of Russian folk songs from various regions of Russia. Aleksandr, Elena, and Sergei preface each song with a description of its genre and content. They play over 30 musical instruments and introduce most of them in the course of the concert - truly a fun event for any lover of good music, regardless of age!
