Designed for undergraduate students at an advanced level of French, the School in France provides opportunities to experience French culture in Bordeaux, Paris, or Poitiers.

The spring 2026 semester is the final semester that we will offer an option to study in Poitiers, but we are still accepting applications for Bordeaux and Paris.
At all program sites, whether in a university course alongside local students or at the Centre Madeleine, courses are conducted solely in French. Students adhere to the Middlebury Language Pledge® while studying abroad, reflecting their dedication to full linguistic and cultural immersion.
All students are strongly encouraged to engage in either an academic internship or volunteer work. Student clubs and French language conversation partners offer opportunities to build local connections and practice their language skills.
The School in France launched a Global Partnerships for Sustainability program in Spring ‘22 with the CREA Mont Blanc research center in Chamonix. Students can learn more about this exciting opportunity here.
Housing is with local families or in residences, providing daily immersion in French language and culture outside of the classroom.
The School in France has received QUIP recognition by the Forum of Education Abroad for meeting the Standards of Good Practice for Education Abroad.
