Linens, towels, pillows and blankets are provided, as well as a bar of soap and a recyclable water cup. Guests should bring all other toiletries. Bathroom facilities are shared. Wi-Fi is available, but there is no television service. Rooms are not air-conditioned.
Please review the information on this web page before the registering for lodging.
This link will be active during the open registration period.
BREAD LOAF: The Bread Loaf mountain campus is approximately 20 minutes from main campus (GPS location 4229 Route 125, Ripton, Vermont 05766). There is no public transportation to or from Bread Loaf; guests must provide their own. Some accommodations are rustic, ranging from dormitory style buildings to small cottages. All have twin beds. Some cottages are located on country roads less than a mile from Bread Loaf's main inn. Cell phone service is minimal, but there are shared land lines in every building.
Accessibility considerations: Availability of handicap accessible rooms at Bread Loaf is limited; most rooms require the use of stairs (up to 3 flights). Only the Main Inn has an elevator.
MAIN CAMPUS: Dormitory rooms are made available on Hepburn Road, close to many of the weekend’s event venues. Guests may unload luggage at their dormitory, but must park vehicles at the Mahaney Center for the Arts parking lot, just a short walk away.
Due to the nature of our year-round campus, housing is available ONLY for Friday and Saturday evenings of Commencement weekend. If you need housing for Commencement Sunday, please make arrangements for non-College lodging.
Parents and guests are encouraged to make lodging arrangements as soon as possible. Accommodations within the town of Middlebury are limited. A listing of web sites for lodging in Addison County and neighboring areas of Vermont and New York State is provided at right. Sleeping in unreserved spaces on campus is not permitted.
OPEN REGISTRATION DATES for COMMENCEMENT 2017: Reservations and payments for Commencement housing at either Bread Loaf campus or main campus will be taken online starting noon EST on Monday, November 14, 2016; through noon EST on Friday, November 18, 2016.
The electronic reservation form goes live on those dates and will be found on this website (posted above).
This will be the ONLY opportunity to make reservations for College lodging. Rooms will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and reservations will be taken in order of receipt. Although we make every effort to house families and friends in close proximity, it is not always possible to honor requests for neighboring rooms, nor can we honor requests for specific rooms. Don’t delay! Requests for lodging typically exceed availability within 24-48 hours of the opening of on-line registration.
CONFIRMATION: Notification to confirm reservations will be sent via email no later than December 16, 2016. Specific room assignments will be made in the spring.
PAYMENT: Payment will be made online when you submit a reservation. We accept Visa, MasterCard, or debit card. The price of lodging—Friday, May 26 and Saturday, May 27— is a flat rate of $150 per person; regardless of whether you stay one or both nights (no discounts apply). Breakfast is included. Payment will be refunded in full if we are unable to fulfill your reservation. Cancellations received prior to May 1 will be fully refunded.
CHECK-OUT: Check-out is 3:00 p.m. on Commencement Sunday. We are unable to make exceptions to this check-out time. If you need housing Sunday evening, please refer to the list at right for other lodging options.
GRADUATE DEPARTURE: Graduates are required to move out of their dorm rooms no later than 11:00 p.m. on Commencement day. Be prepared! If possible, ship non-essential items home in advance. Pack remaining items during Senior Week.
Guest and graduate check-out deadlines must be enforced so that rooms can be prepared for Reunion and Language School.
We hope this information assists you in selecting suitable lodging for your family and guests. We look forward to welcoming you to Middlebury in May!
