BUSINESS
Suzanne Calhoun - Suzanne's Zing Sweet Savories: A dip, a sauce or condiment., Suzanne's Zing creates a new taste sensation witha gourmet all natural blend of fruits, vegetables, a burst of zing, and a bit of spice,complementing a large variety of dishes beautifully.
Teddy Fitzgibbons, Andrew Lebovitz - EZ Trays: We supply institutional dining halls with EZ Trays, a custom tray with straps intended toaid students on crutches in cafeterias.
EDUCATION, OUTREACH, AND POLICY
Emma Kitchen and Kait Surdoval - Concussions Speak: A website for athletes to share their stories and create a community around concussions.
Emily Núñez - Rugged and Refined Bags: We use sturdy and waterproof materials from military equipment combined with refinedelements to create fashionable bags whose sale will ultimately aid wounded warriors.
ARTS
Maya Goldberg-Safir, Anna Gallagher - MiddSlam: By summer’s end, we hope to have created the foundation of a sustainable slam poetryprogram at Middlebury that inspires a diverse group of students for years to come.
Elori Kramer and Peter Coccoma - Reimagined Landscapes: Reflections of Migrant Farmworkers’ Experiences: We will create a multimedia performance combining audio, video, and set design thatconveys issues surrounding the experiences of migrant farmworkers in Vermont in a formthat is both accessible and powerful for a wide audience.

Spend this summer taking your idea to the next level and get the funding to do it. Middchallenge is here to help you turn your idea into reality.
THE COMPETITION
Middchallenge is accepting proposals in which you explain the inspiration and/or viability of your idea or business. (See How to Apply)
Competition categories:

* Arts
* Education, Outreach, and Policy
On March 15-16, 2013 the top chosen proposals in each of these areas will be invited to pitch their idea for 10 minutes to an expert panel of judges made up of alumni, community and faculty. Two projects in each category will be chosen to win.
THE BENEFITS
Winners will receive $3K for the summer. Students will be provided office space, access to Middlebury’s summer room and board, and alumni mentoring.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Middchallenge winners will have frequent communication with their alumni mentors, reporting their accomplishments, problems, and future plans monthly through the end of the summer. This doesn’t mean you have to come in knowing all of the answers, it just means you have to commit to consistent effort to move your project forward.

All current Middlebury students are eligible.

Submit your proposals by March 9, 2013 to middchallenge@middlebury.edu .
The top applicants in each area will be notified by Monday March 11, 2013. Business competition participants will present on Friday March 15, 2013 and Arts and Education, Outreach, and Policy participants will present on Saturday March 16, 2013.
There will be a help session offered for those who wish to sharpen their presentation skills. This year mentorship will be provided in preparation for the presentations by recent Midd grads including two young entrepreneurs and a consultant in the arts.
