Controller
The controller is responsible for financial management and reporting and controlling the proper use of funds in accordance with federal, state, and College policy and procedures.
Reporting to the associate vice president for finance and administration, and the assistant treasurer, the Controller’s Office
- Manages the accounting activities for Middlebury.
- Provides expertise in fund, investment, and capital accounting.
- Provides analysis and reporting of financial information.
Areas associated with the Controller’s Office include the following:

Accounting
Supports all schools as well as all departments and auxiliary and service enterprises.

Grants and Contracts
Responsible for the post-award administration of all externally sponsored research grants, contracts, and awards.

Purchasing and Payment
Responsible for processing and paying all vouchers and invoices for Middlebury.

Tax Office
Responsible for managing tax compliance for the College; a resource to the Middlebury community on tax questions.

Payroll
Responsible for managing the processing of payroll, in partnership with the Green Mountain Higher Education Consortium (GMHEC).
