Please join us in congratulating Anna Hurd on her new appointment as Special Collections Outreach and Research Services Manager!

Anna Hurd

Anna has been a part of the Middlebury Special Collections team since 2023, first as the Eugene Exman Papers Archival Fellow and then as a Processing Archivist. Throughout their time at Middlebury, Anna has focused on processing and facilitating access to donated archival materials, including the Eugene Exman papers, the Vermont Freedom to Marry Task Force collection, and the Walter Cerf collection. Anna has also worked on archival processing, cataloging, conservation, and outreach projects at several Addison County libraries and museums, including the Bixby Memorial Free Library, the Henry Sheldon Museum, and, most recently, the Rokeby Museum. They are a member of the Collections Care and Conservation Alliance and the New England Archivists.

Anna holds a BA in English from the University of Vermont and a MS in Library and Information Science from Simmons University. They are also a writer and artist with published works in two small-press anthologies and have volunteered as a regional juror for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards annually since 2017.

Anna lives in Burlington and, when they’re not in the archives, reading, or writing, spends their time trying out new recipes and exploring Vermont’s many old cemeteries.
