Middlebury Library Joins HathiTrust

HathiTrust includes a wide variety of materials, for example, United States Senate hearings, French periodicals, and countless books, while offering our community a variety of ways to engage with primary source content for research. Thanks to our membership, you can now download some items in their entirety and excerpts of many items in a variety of file formats.

Full Text Downloading

As HathiTrust members, Middlebury patrons can now download complete works in the public domain. In-copyright works remain searchable. We encourage you to find or request books through the library to read them in full after discovering them in HathiTrust!

To download a single page, the full text, or a range of pages, click on “Full View” from the search results and select “Download” on the left sidebar. You can select the format, range, and if applicable, the image resolution.

Other Features

• U.S. Federal Documents Program: HathiTrust maintains the largest independent collection of digitized and preserved U.S. Federal Documents.
• Accessible Text Request Service: Users who are blind or print disabled can request copies of any title in the HathiTrust Digital Library collection — including copyrighted items — to use with adaptive technologies. [Coming Soon]
• Create collections of HathiTrust items that are searchable and shareable, and embed HathiTrust books into web content.
