In April, Middlebury Libraries saw its highest total number of transactions (defined as either a new checkout or a renewal of an already-checked out item) since October of 2024!
A switch to a new library system in January of 2025 resulted in longer loan periods for most materials and patrons, which naturally resulted in fewer checkouts and renewals (i.e., patrons get to keep items for a longer time period, so the number of renewals goes down.)
April 2026 saw 3,628 total circulation transactions (2,827 circulations and 801 renewals)!
