“From the author of Uprooted and Spinning Silver comes the first book of the Scholomance trilogy, the story of an unwilling dark sorceress who is destined to rewrite the rules of magic.”— Provided by Amazon.

Recommendation from Laksamee Cave, User Experience and Design Librarian:

Take Hunger Games and mash it together with Harry Potter. And make the main character a heroine destined to be evil. The teenage angst is strong but emotionally smart. The school doesn’t have any teachers. The story starts in the middle of junior year and the reader provided no introduction, just given a doorway into a world and asked to hang on. It’s brilliant, and I loved every second of all three books in the trilogy.
