Gear Room

We also provide gear for guided trips run by student organizations like FIRE or Middlebury Mountain Club. Equipment use is free to the Middlebury College community.

Inventory

Our inventory includes, but is not limited to, the following:

• Sleeping bags: summer/winter
• Tents: 2-persons and 4-persons 
• Snowshoes
• Nordic backcountry skis/boots
• Backpacks
• Stoves
• Rain jackets
• Hiking boots: limited sizes
• Plastic mountaineering boots
• Medical kits

Procedures and Policies

Feel prepared for your adventures!

1. Please visit during Gear Room hours.
2. Before you check out any gear, please complete the rental agreement and waiver.
3. Let the staff know what you need and they will assist you.  
4. Gather your items and check out with the staff. 
5. Return the item during Gear Room hours within one week, or email gear@middlebury.edu for a renewal. 

You are responsible for the equipment and its return. You are also responsible for any injury, damage, or financial loss that may result from the use of borrowed equipment. It is your responsibility to know proper use. 

• A $5 late fee will be charged to your College account every week. After two late weeks, you could be charged the item’s value. 
• Fees will not be waived. 

You are responsible for replacement costs should you lose any Gear Room gear.
