The Old Stone Mill and Annex are spaces for student creators, entrepreneurs, and artists of all kinds.
We invite you to create. Build a canoe, code a website, edit an academic journal, record your music, test business models, write a book, design clothing, hold a book club meeting, teach pottery, have dinner with strangers, dance, quilt, photograph portraits, rehearse plays.
The premise is simple. We give you space, you do what you want. All we ask is that your project be nonacademic and self-designed.
The Old Stone Mill
The Old Stone Mill, formerly located beside Otter Creek at the heart of downtown Middlebury, is now on 82 Weybridge, closer to campus.
It acts as an incubator for both entrepreneurial startups and creative projects. The Old Stone Mill intentionally holds no academic affiliation with the projects of its tenants. This is a space where creators and innovators of Middlebury College can come together under one roof to share new ideas, explore creative passions, and collaborate in a supportive environment.
Tenant applications are due TBD. If you are accepted, there will be required orientation on at 82 Weybridge St.
“Since its founding in 2017, Middlebury College Tea Club has grown to over 100 student members. This is all thanks to the OSM Annex, which has proved to be the perfect space for us to establish our student-run teahouse. Layers of paint on the walls tell the stories of students who came before us. Though we are constantly reshaping it - painting it, building, deconstructing, reimagining - to make it our own, we also appreciate the messy and mysterious history of this space we have come to love so much. If you’re free on a Sunday afternoon, come on by for a pot of Lapsang Souchong, a fresh bowl of matcha, (or whatever of our many teas interests you) and make yourself at home!” - Ivy Geiliker ‘19.5
