The Academic Administration oversees the College’s academic program, ensuring its success through programs, services, and committees that support faculty and the curriculum.

The Provost and Executive Vice President is the chief academic officer of the College, overseeing academic personnel and resources; the Dean of the Faculty focuses on faculty recruitment and contracts and the professional development of the faculty; the Dean of Curriculum oversees course offerings for the fall, winter, and spring terms; the Dean for International Programs directs the college’s study abroad programs and other international opportunities; the VP for Planning and Assessment coordinates institutional planning and promotes evidence-based assessment to improve institutional effectiveness; and the Dean of the College supervises programs and services designed to enhance the undergraduate experience.

Provost and Executive Vice President

The Provost and Executive Vice President is responsible for recruitment and retention of faculty, overseeing faculty reviews for reappointment and tenure, and ensuring appropriate staffing and resources for departments and programs. The provost chairs the Educational Affairs Committee, which is responsible for allocating faculty resources and making recommendations on general educational policy, and serves as liaison to the Faculty Council.  The provost also serves as secretary to the Council on Reviews, comprised of the Reappointments Committee and the Promotions Committee.  The provost oversees the work of the Dean of Admissions, and the Director for the Arts, as well as the directors of the College's interdisciplinary academic centers.  The Assistant Provost provides additional support for the work of the provost’s office.

Dean of the Faculty

The Dean of the Faculty (DoF) supports the development of the faculty.  The DoF oversees faculty recruitment, and  guides departmental and program affairs.  The DoF supervises the  faculty leave program, the faculty professional development fund (FPDF), internal and external grant and fellowship programs, the faculty mentoring program, and start-up funds. The DoF also works with the faculty and other offices on developing ways to enhance teaching and scholarship.

Dean of Curriculum

The Dean of Curriculum (DCUR) works with faculty on issues relating to the curriculum. The DCUR chairs the Curriculum Committee, oversees Winter Term, approves classroom renovations and technological improvements, determines academic equipment and instrumentation needs, helps assemble to course catalog, and supports other activities related to teaching and academic facilities.  The current DCUR also serves as the director of the sciences and as institutional coordinator for a student-faculty research program supported by the Vermont Genetics Network.
