Portuguese Language/Literature
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese invites applications for a tenure track position in Portuguese, beginning September 2013. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching language courses at all levels. Experience in teaching Portuguese for Spanish speakers desirable. Area of expertise is open, but preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a strong commitment to the literatures and cultures of at least two of the following areas: Brazil, Portugal, or Lusophone African countries. Candidates should be able to teach in English and contribute to the college curriculum outside the department, and should be committed to teaching students from diverse backgrounds and producing scholarship that will enhance a diverse faculty and curriculum. Appointment will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor (Ph.D) or Instructor (ABD). Applicants should provide evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly work.
