Fall 2019
- Students of Arabic 413 ('Arabic across History) translated verses from a variety of Arabic poems and held an evening with Arabic poetry, reading the poems and disucssing issues around poetry translation.
- Shams Mohajerani '20, a double major in Arabic and Film and Media Culture won the annual study abroad photo contest for his “Skatepark Dreams” picture, pasted below, which he shot while studying at the Middlebury School in Amman, Jordan. More information at this LINK.
Winter 2019
Rose Adams '18.5 finished her Arabic senior work in January 2019. The project is entitled ذكرى الغريب Memory of a Stranger: The History of New York's Syrian Quarter and the Pen League Writers. You can listen to Rose Adams’ podcast here.
Summer 2019
Lucy Grindon '19, a history major and an Arabic minor, participated in the community engagement program Jiran جيران during the summer of 2019. Jiran, a Middlebury initiative, is a summer language program that pairs intermediate and advanced Arabic students with underserved Arabic-speaking families in New Britain, Connecticut.
Fall 2017
Lorenzo Greenbaum '17.5 finished his senior work project entitled “What are the components of 'the Rabat Identity' and how do they differ from other cities in Morocco?” Lorenzo gave a presentation on the topic on Dec 11, 2017 in the Arabic House.

Summer 2018: Mari Odoy '20 and Will O’Neal '20, who have been studying Arabic at Middlebury since Fall 2016, worked with Prof. Dima Ayoub on her Arabic paratexts project during the summer of 2018. In this article, Mari and Will talk about their project experience.
Summer 2017: Professor Dima Ayoub and Priyanjali Sinha '18 on a project to expand a database on paratexts of Arabic literature in translation. Read about the project here.
