Academic Decisions in Sophomore Year
Students face many important academic decisions in their sophomore year. Students may select their major at any time after the first semester; they are required to declare their major no later than the end of their third semester.Declaring a Major means not only choosing a course of study but also Choosing a New Adviser within that major. In addition, students who choose to Study Abroad, must plan early. Many students spend the summer between sophomore and junior year studying at one of the Middlebury Language Schools.
The Major Declaration form is available in the Registrar’s Office or online.
