An array of opportunities is available at Middlebury for faculty to learn from one another, outside experts, and staff about effective approaches to teaching, as well as for development and scholarship.


Funding Resources
Middlebury offers internal funding for innovative projects, fellowships and research assistants, as well as support for seeking external funding.

Faculty Development

Faculty Development Workshops
Includes the annual Academic Roundtable, Teaching and Writing Retreat, Learning Institute, and Winter Pedagogy Series and other unique programming throughout the year.

Opportunities for Development from (OIDEI)
The Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (OIDEI) offers programming such as the Inclusive Practitioners Program, Anti-Oppression Reading Group and individual or group consultations.

Learning Resources
Collaborates with faculty to design innovative, effective teaching environments, and refine workload and time management for strategic syllabi development.

Collegial Classroom Visits
To foster a culture of professional sharing, interested faculty can sign up to visit another professor’s class and to be visited by that faculty partner in return for observation and feedback. Complete and submit the interest form.

Communities of Practice and Working Groups
Intentional pedagogical groups to deepen understanding or share practices. See list of currently active groups.
