Working with research assistants for all disciplines, as well as programming supporting scholarship.

  • Casual Conversations about Student Access and Equity (4/18)

    Date: Thursday, April 18, 2024
    Time: 3:30pm - 5:00pm
    Location: CTLR (Davis Family Library 225)
    Join Tara Affolter, Faculty Director for Equity, Justice, and Inclusion, and Deirdre Kelly from the Disability Resource Center twice a month on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5:00 in the CTLR for some informal discussions on access and equity in the classroom. Some weeks will have focused dialogue around a designated issue. At every session, there will be time for questions, brainstorming, collaboration, and problem-solving. There might even be snacks, and there will always be free coffee and tea available. 
      March 14: Are you struggling to figure out the balance of AI, the honor code, and equitable practices?   March 28: Drop-in with your questions/concerns.  April 4: What is the difference between compliance and inclusion?We explore the many ways you can bring simple inclusive practices into your classroom.  April 18: Drop-in with your questions/concerns.  May 2: Can I have an extension? Let’s talk about how we can provide equitable supports as our semester draws to a close.

  • Spring 2024 Anti-Oppression Reading Group (5/9)

    The Spring 2024 Anti-Oppression Reading Group is a monthly meeting where a shared article that addresses a form of systemic oppression in higher education is discussed. The article is sent out at least a week before the meeting. Meetings will be held via zoom.   • Faculty Professional Development Fund (FPDF) Rolling Deadline

    The FPDF program is one of the principal vehicles for supporting the professional development of the Middlebury faculty.  Faculty development encompasses activities that serve your continuing growth as a teacher, scholar, and contributor to a liberal arts college community. You may request funds for research expenses, professional conferences and workshops, pedagogical and course development, additional training, and purchase of materials needed for teaching and research. (Requests for supplies that are typically obtained through other means, such as through departmental budgets, will not be approved.) The FPDF program supports ongoing research and may also be used by faculty who wish to develop new teaching materials and methods, or who need to develop new skills and expertise (consistent with the College’s academic mission).   Funding up to $4,000 per academic year is available. Applications must be submitted well prior to your project start date and no later than June 1, 2024 for academic year 2023-24. See details and a link to the application form here.
