Meet Ashali Bhandari '14
Congratulations on your acceptance to Middlebury! As you walk around campus or browse the website, it’s hard not to fall in love with the Green Mountains and the surrounding landscape or to get excited about the vast array of course offerings—from the Economics of Happiness, to Bioinformatics and Genomics, from Food History of the Middle East, to Maritime Literature and Culture. For me, what makes Middlebury home, more than the mountains or the courses, is our community.
We’re not ones to watch the world from the sidelines. In the classroom, on the field, and in dining halls and dorms, we are budding with initiative and imagination. When students wondered why Middlebury was powered by fossil fuels, we launched an initiative for our campus to become carbon neutral by 2016. When students wondered where college endowment dollars were going, we launched a campaign for more transparency and accountability through socially responsible investment. We have turned our classrooms into think tanks not only to ask hard questions, but also to create new and innovative solutions.
Best of luck and congratulations again,
