Juilliard President Joseph Polisi to Speak at Middlebury March 1

Winter Storm Causes Cancellation of Elias String Quartet Appearance on Wednesday, March 12

Due to Winter Storm Vulcan’s effects on travel throughout the northeast, the Elias String Quartet’s lecture-demonstration, planned for Wednesday, March 12 at 4:30 P.M., has been canceled. However, the Quartet’s formal concert on Thursday, March 13 at 7:30 P.M. is still planned to go on as scheduled at the Concert Hall of the Mahaney Center for the Arts. Acclaimed Pianist Richard Goode Returns to Middlebury October 5 to Play Beloved Works

Felipe Salles Group Presents “Ugandan Suite”

Brazilian saxophonist Felipe Salles will lead an esteemed group of seasoned jazz and world music artists in a presentation of Ugandan Suite on September 28 at 8:00 P.M. at Middlebury College’s Mahaney Center for the Arts.  This visionary work is the first major jazz composition to use Ugandan musical idioms. Middlebury ethnomusicologist and musician Damascus Kafumbe is a key collaborator.

Sophie Shao and Friends Return to Middlebury Dec. 5 for World Premiere

Award-winning cellist Sophie Shao will join an international ensemble--violinists Carmit Zori and Hye-Jin Kim, violist Teng Li, and pianist Gilles Vonsattel-- to perform Haydn’s Piano Trio No. 43 in C Major, Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F Minor, and the world premiere of Revelations for Piano Quintet, composed by Middlebury College Professor of Music Su Lian Tan in honor of Paul Nelson’s 30th and final season as the Performing Arts Series director.
