Alumni of Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF)

In 2018 Middlebury Language Schools partnered with the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) to provide scholarships for our French MA degrees to qualified alumni in recognition of their commitment to language and cross-cultural exchange.

As a TAPIF alumnus/a, you are eligible for our need-based graduate financial aid and an application fee waiver. Our financial aid is awarded in the form of grants, not loans. This means that if you qualify, you will attend the Language Schools at a reduced or no cost.

  • MA in 4 summers on the Vermont campus - Up to $37,000
  • MA in 3 summers on the Vermont campus and 1 summer in Paris - Up to $37,000.
  • MA with an initial summer in Vermont, followed by an academic year in Paris - Up to $28,000

Why did you choose Middlebury Language Schools after TAPIF?

I chose Middlebury Language Schools after TAPIF for two reasons. The first was because while I was doing TAPIF, I met other Teaching Assistants who had done Middlebury Language Schools in the past and had nothing but positive experiences from it. The second was because I knew that I still wanted to expand my French language skills after TAPIF. Being able to apply the language skills I learned during TAPIF to Middlebury Language Schools truly resulted in a positive learning experience. Once I heard about Middlebury Language Schools and their fully immersive program, I knew I just had to do it to improve my French language abilities immensely.

What do you hope to do in the future?

I want to continue working in the education field by preparing my students to appreciate living in a globalized world.

Anything else that you would tell a student considering TAPIF and/or Middlebury?

If you can do TAPIF or Middlebury, do it! If you can do both, even better! TAPIF taught me to put myself out there in an unfamiliar environment. Not only did my French improve, but I learned a lot about working with students, which is what inspired me to continue teaching. As for Middlebury Language Schools, it has been an unforgettable experience. The people you meet and the unique immersive environment cannot be beat. If you want to challenge yourself, see a rapid improvement in your language skills, and make lifelong friends, I definitely recommend Middlebury.
