Connect with Middlebury Students
Learning in action for the public good.
There are a variety of avenues to collaborate with Middlebury College students to find volunteers and support your organization. We also support local community organizations finding the right pathway to connect with Middlebury students based on your organizational goals. Explore our options below.

Fall Student Involvement Fair
Each September, we host a variety of community organizations at an event attended by most students on campus: the Fall Student Involvement Fair. This is a great way to introduce your organization and volunteer opportunities to students and build a volunteering list you can reach out to directly for volunteer needs.
Contact Jason Duquette-Hoffman (jduquettehoffman@middlebury.edu) to be added to this email list.
Fall Orientation Programs
We send out individual outreach in late spring seeking one-time group projects for September that introduce about 12 Middlebury College students to volunteering opportunities they could continue throughout the year.
Contact Claire Tebbs (ctebbs@middlebury.edu) to be added to this list.
Community-Connected Learning Course
The CCE staff-taught course that introduces students to community engagement and supervises their completion of a semester-long project in collaboration with a community partner. Learn more about this course. Our Community Connected Learning course is taught during the fall (September-December) and spring (February-May) semesters.
We encourage community organizations to submit project proposals for students to work on with you during this course. To be a good fit for this course, projects should:
- Build students’ civic skills,
- Be supported with your staff supervision, and
- Take about 3-5 hours/week for a full semester.
Want to host a project for 1-3 students? We send out requests twice a year to gather project ideas that students complete for academic credit.
Contact Jason Duquette-Hoffman (jduquettehoffman@middlebury.edu) for information regarding the Fall 2025 course and/or to be added to the outreach list for this course.
Group Projects
Do you have a project that requires a lot of hands? We can help you host a volunteer event with MiddVolunteers or a Middlebury College athletics team! Students coordinate transportation to and from the events, and it’s a good opportunity to share information about upcoming and/or ongoing volunteer opportunities with those who attend.
Contact Jason Duquette-Hoffman (jduquettehoffman@middlebury.edu) for more information.
Host an Intern or Student Employee
- Create student job post: Create a job posting on Handshake to share paid employment opportunities with students over 18. Instructions for how to do this are here: https://www.middlebury.edu/careers-internships/employers
- Request a student intern: Want to host a Winter Term internship (4 weeks, 25 hours/week in January)? Students receive course credit for their internship. Email Karen White at white@middlebury.edu in the Center for Careers and Internships and ask to be added to the community outreach list.
