Employees have two plan options to enroll in – My Pet Protection® and My Pet Protection® with Wellness500.

My Pet Protection is a medical plan that offers an annual benefit of $7,500 for eligible veterinary bills related to accidents, injuries and illnesses, including emergency clinics and specialists.

My Pet Protection with Wellness500 offers the same protection as the medical plan, and also includes coverage for preventive care. With this plan, up to $500 of the annual $7,500 benefit can be used for wellness, including checkups, flea and heartworm preventives, vaccinations, spay and neuter and more.

Pet Rx Express - Members get discounts on pet prescriptions, while enjoying the convenience of automatic claim submission.

VetHelpline® app - Members also have access to a 24/7 video chat service to get guidance from licensed veterinary professionals at no additional cost.

Key Pet Insurance Details

  • Enrollment is available year-round. 
    • You may enroll anytime after 10/1/2024 and if you enroll by 12/15/24 your coverage will be effective 1/1/2025 and your deductions would be in the first paycheck of 2025. 
    • If you enroll anytime after 12/15/24 then Nationwide will share your coverage effective date as well as when you can expect your first deduction to occur.
  • Enroll directly with Nationwide, pay through payroll deduction. 
    • Visit benefits.petinsurance.com/middlebury or call 877-738-7874 to get a quote and sign up for Pet Insurance
      • Cats and Dogs may be completed online.
      • Birds and exotic pets will require a phone call. 
    • As you enroll or get quotes, you will need your person number which is on your payslip or ID Badge.
    • Nationwide will provide the Benefits Team at GMHEC with your per paycheck premium amount and date to begin deducting them.
    • You will see the premiums deducted each paycheck per the Nationwide schedule based on your enrollment date.
  • File claims directly with Nationwide. 
    • Members are able to visit any vet, anywhere, submit a claim to Nationwide, and then get reimbursed for eligible expenses.
    • After the coverage starts (on 1/1/25 if you enroll before 12/15/24), participants enrolled will submit claims to submitmyclaim@petinsurance.com
