Library Mews: Goblin, Marlowe, and Archie

Name/Age: Goblin (3 years) 

Coloration / Breed: Huge, black, and fluffy

Place of Origin: Born on a goat farm in Williston and adopted from the Humane Society of Chittenden County

Favorite Toy: Hoodie strings, phone chargers, and tails (his own and his siblings’.) 

Fun facts: Goblin is from a feral litter of farm kittens - we were only supposed to foster him for long enough to socialize him. Now look at us. 
Goblin is named after the goblin shark (look it up, it’s ridiculous) - all of the kittens in his litter were named after different types of sharks, because they bit so much (he’s only kind of broken the habit post-socialization.)

Special Talents: In spite of his antisocial origins, Goblin loves everything and everybody. His talents include snuggling, grooming his cat siblings, and yodeling outside of any closed door until the human on the other side lets him come in and involve himself in whatever they’re doing.

Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer. He’d LOVE to meet (and probably lick) all of the creepy post-dystopian creatures.

Special Talents: Special talents include finding the perfect sunbeam, stealing the hearts of everyone he meets, and growing the most lavish, majestic fur you’ve ever seen.

Fun facts: “Marlowe” is short for Cat Marlowe, after Kit Marlowe. His meow sounds eerily like a cat version of Owen Wilson’s “wow.”
He has a tragic backstory, but he doesn’t let that bother him. If you drop a piece of clothing on any surface in the house, it will take Marlowe approximately five seconds to curl up for a nap on it.

Coloration / Breed: Domestic shorthair tabby 

Place of Origin: Found on Archibald Street, Burlington - Adopted from the Humane Society of Chittenden County 

Favorite Toy: All of my hair ties

Fun facts: Archie is short for “Archibald Street,” which is where she was rescued. People always tell her that Archibald is a boy’s name, but she doesn’t care. Archie recently made a full recovery from cancer (and made friends with everybody at the specialist’s office while she did it!) 

Special Talents: Her special talents include opening cupboards and drawers, sitting on top of the kitchen cabinets so that she can literally, as well as figuratively, look down on her cat brothers, and swiping people food (she once stole an entire pork tenderloin off the stove. She’s not sorry, and she’d do it again.)
