Request a Library Purchase
The library encourages College community members to support our collection development by suggesting library purchases.
We regularly purchase books, e-books, CDs, videos, and access to journals and databases based on community requests.
As of spring ‘26, we have new procedures and policies related to requests for databases, journals, and similar electronic and/or continuing resources.
Rather than reviewing database and journal requests on a rolling basis, we now review them three times a year. Deadlines fall six weeks before the first day of the fall and spring terms and six weeks before the start date of the first summer schools and conferences. Winter term instructors should align their requests with the fall, spring, or summer term deadlines.
Please make sure you submit your database and journal requests six weeks before the first day of the term when you hope to begin using the resource. We will be in touch before the start of the term to let you know the outcome of your request. Requests that are submitted outside of a review period will be held until the next review period.
We encourage you to review the Electronic and Continuing Resources section of our Collections Policy before submitting your request.
We continue to review book requests (both print and electronic) on a rolling basis.
To make a request for a book, journal, database, or other resource, please click the button below to fill out our request form. To access the form, you will have to log in to Google with your Middlebury credentials. If the link takes you to a page that says “You need permission,” try logging out of your Google account and log in again with your Middlebury credentials.
When to get in touch
If you asked to have your purchase held for you (or to be notified when it’s electronically available) and haven’t heard anything in a few weeks after submitting your request, please send an email to libacqreq@middlebury.edu.
