Alumni Association

Middlebury is a lifetime experience. The mission of the Middlebury Alumni Association (MAA) is to connect all alumni to each other and to Middlebury in mutually beneficial ways—fostering a community that is not limited to time or place.

Current Board Priorities
- Diversify and expand the nominating pipeline for alumni leadership roles.
- Engage and support alumni of color and other alumni identity networks.
- Promote and support alumni/student connections through platforms like Midd2Midd.
- Connect all alumni under the “Big M” to engage meaningfully with the College
- Partner with Alumni and Parent Programs to create a system to measure our progress on stated goals and priorities.
The MAA Board of Directors meets regularly via Zoom and in person twice a year. Its work is guided by the MAA Constitution, which was most recently revised in 2016.
Alumni Leaders
The Nominating Committee of the Middlebury Alumni Association selects a slate of candidates for alumni trustee open positions and for the MAA Board of Directors. Alumni trustees are Middlebury College alumni nominated by the Middlebury Alumni Association Board of Directors and presented to the Board of Trustees. Candidates are presented to the alumni association on an annual slate and serve five-year terms. Candidates for the MAA Board are also presented on an annual slate and serve two-year terms.
Alumni Awards
The board reviews nominations for and votes on the annual Alumni Achievement Awards and Alumni Plaque Award.
History
The Middlebury Alumni Association was founded in 1824, in order “to revive the collections of academic life—to cherish a laudable zeal for the advancement of literature and science and particularly for the prosperity of our Alma Mater.”
Today, MAA represents alumni from Middlebury College, Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, Language Schools, and Bread Loaf School of English.
