Laboratory Safety Committee
The Laboratory Safety Committee’s work focuses on promoting a culture of safety within the Middlebury Sciences.
Members serve as liaisons to their respective departments, and work with the Chemical Hygiene Officer to regularly review, update, improve and implement Middlebury’s Chemical Hygiene Plan. The Committee will meet periodically to develop, review and reassess laboratory environmental health and safety policies and procedures relating to both chemical and physical hazards, review safety incidents or near misses related to general laboratory and chemical safety, support the development of laboratory safety training requirements and programs, and prepare written recommendations on behalf of the committee to College administration as necessary.
