Refunds
Credit Balance Refunds
A variety of circumstances may cause a student to have a refund or credit balance on their student account. Payments, including scholarships, grants, and loans, that are higher than the amount owed and are in excess of tuition, fees, and room and board may result in a student refund.
Student refunds are managed through Nelnet Campus Commerce, Middlebury’s billing and payment service. This service enables Middlebury to deposit payments into a student’s checking account—whether they are financial aid refunds or other funds owed to students. Payments are fast, secure, and automatic and will be deposited into the student’s bank account within 2–5 business days after the refund is initiated. Note that your Middlebury account must be activated in order for you to access Nelnet Campus Commerce.
Students who do not provide bank account information, or elect the paper check option, will have their refund mailed by check to their Middlebury College Box. Please note that checks can take up to three weeks to process and mail.
