Athletic Facilities

Faculty and their families have the use of the College athletic facilities.  Monday through Friday, between 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., the facilities are for use by the Students and Faculty only (no guests or family members allowed). In the Field House complex there is a fitness center, hockey rink, basketball court, indoor running track, indoor tennis courts, squash courts, and an indoor swimming pool (Natatorium). There is also one set of outdoor tennis courts next to Proctor.

The College's 18-hole golf course is located adjacent to Alumni Stadium.  Faculty and staff pay a reduced rate* for a season of golf.

The Middlebury College Snow Bowl is an alpine ski area in the mountains east of town, on Route 125 past East Middlebury and Ripton-a distance of about 15 miles from campus.  In addition to trails and lifts, it also has a lodge with a snack bar.  It is open to the public, but its primary use is by the College community.  Faculty and staff can obtain season passes at reduced rates.* Lessons are also available.

Cross-country skiing facilities are at the Jane and Carroll Rikert Ski Touring Center on the Bread Loaf campus, which also has season passes.*  There is also a 5-kilometer cross-country track on the golf course (lit until 11:00 p.m.).

*Note: the difference between the fair market value of the ticket and the price paid by a Middlebury College employee counts as taxable income.  This can be a significant amount of money, so please check with Human Resources to get exact figures.
