February Celebration -- January 29-30, 2010
What follows is a brief summary of February Celebration Weekend. Please visit this site for updates on events, times and locations.
Each winter, students completing their academic work at the end of January participate in a unique celebration. The February Celebration, so-called because most participating students began their Middlebury careers as February first-years, traditionally includes all of the seniors making their way down the trails at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl, in their caps and gowns. Many ski or snowboard, while others walk or snow shoe. It’s a wonderful sight to see!!
The celebration will include events on campus for friends, family and the students, many of whom will return in May to receive their diplomas during Commencement. The weekend begins on Friday evening with a speaker and reception with hors d’oeuvres and beverages. On Saturday morning, President Liebowitz will address the members of the senior class and their guests in Mead Memorial Chapel. The ski procession at the Middlebury College Snow Bowl will take place following convocation in Mead Chapel.
A student committee organizes most of the non-official festivities and they will begin their planning sessions in late October. A tentative schedule of official events is set forth below.
