Middlebury Language School Graduate Programs

Christiane Breithaupt

German School Faculty

Christiane earned her MA in Cultural Studies and Italian Language and Literature at the Humboldt University in Berlin. Her professional career has had two directions: After graduation she worked as a program curator with a communal cinema in Weimar for two years. Her interest in media led her to Triad Berlin, one of the leading communication and design agencies in Germany where she has been working as a freelance editor and concept designer for media productions and exhibitions since 2006. From 2009 to 2011, she joined the film and media funding institute Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg as an editor for online and publications.

Besides working as an editor, Christiane acquired teaching experiences in courses on language and in advanced topics classes in Weimar, Berlin, and Philadelphia. In 2006-2007, she taught a film and exhibition concept design course at the Bauhaus University Weimar, and Italian at the German-Italian Society in Weimar. After receiving a Goethe Institute degree for teaching German as a foreign language, she taught at the German Society in Philadelphia in 2012. Christiane is currently teaching German at the Parlando language school in Berlin. Her research interests include film history, especially the East German cinema. In 2012, she offered a film club about East German movies during the German Summer School in Middlebury.
