Student Support System

Students are chosen through a rigorous selection process, and are matched with host sites based on their skills and areas of interest.

Students will be connected with host site supervisors prior to departure, ensuring clear expectations from both student and host. Participants will participate in regular, ongoing check-ins with the Middlebury Social Impact Corps support team. All Middlebury Social Impact Corps interns will be paired with an MSIC scholar from MIIS who will act as a mentor throughout the internship. Interns and scholars will have reflection opportunities throughout the experience.

By participating in Middlebury Social Impact Corps, students will do the following:

  • Have an individualized role within a structured internship experience
  • Embody a set of team roles within a project-based curriculum
  • Complete deliverables associated with MSIC curriculum and host site job descriptions
  • Demonstrate understanding of their contribution to the mission of the host site, the Middlebury Social Impact Corps cohort, and the greater good of the community in which they are placed

To ensure the right match between the skills and interests of the participants and the needs of the host organizations, students will be placed in one of the following aligning tracks:

  • Communications/Community Outreach
  • Education
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Research
  • Sustainable Agriculture
