Professor Mercedes Fernández Isla (Degree in Romance Languages Philology, Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Master of Arts in Translation of French, Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Ph.D. in Hispanic Language and Literatures, Boston University) has more than 25 years experience teaching and coordinating Spanish courses in France, the United States and Spain. She is currently a professor at the Middlebury College and the New York University programs in Madrid, where she teaches at the graduate and undergraduate levels. She is a Certificate Interviewer of the American Council of Teachers of Foreign Languages. She has participated in several projects on second language acquisition, where her area of interest lies, especially everything related to motivation in the learning of a second language.
