NMLFF Trailer

Dear Audience,

According to UN Women’s most recent report, at the current rate of progress, it will take 286 years for the world to achieve gender equality. The World Economic Forum projects another 132 years to close the global gender gap. Some people believe that feminism is no longer needed, but these statistics are a grim reality. From the proven gender pay gap to women’s sexual and reproductive rights are constantly at risk by lawmakers, feminism needs support more than ever. Many organizations have done backbreaking work to move us toward achieving gender equality, yet so much is yet to be done.

No Man’s Land Film Festival aims to leverage our platform to create a future where women, transgender, and genderqueer folk can thrive by addressing the structural challenges of gender inequality including discriminatory attitudes, behaviors, and practices. At No Man’s Land, we stand for inclusivity and equality on all levels. Our goal is to continue inspiring people to shatter stereotypes and reinforce the notion that being “feminine” is showing up as you are and that you are capable of everything.

The time to act and invest in more women, trans, genderqueer, and BIPOC representation is now. Discrimination still exists everywhere, but we all have the power to be changemakers.

If nobody told you this today, you are all badass.

Love and Solidarity,

No Man’s Land

I’m among the ranks of women whose expressions are seen as too strong. There are no rules if you’re a boy. l’ve had people look past me because of the color of my skin. I’ve had people overlook me because I was a woman. To everyone who gave me hell and said, I could not, your resistance made me stronger, made me the fighter that I am today.

No Man’s Land Film Festival (NMLFF), the premier adventure film festival for women and gender non-conforming athletes and storytellers, announces its 2024 World Tour succeeding its 9th Annual Flagship Film Festival. Presented by Mountain Hardwear with additional support from deuter, Fat Tire and Chronicle Cinema, NMLFF’s World Tour showcases 10 unique film programs and over 55 films.

“Our work is oriented by the diverse experiences that the mainstream media has historically failed to recognize,” says Executive Director, Kathy Karlo. “Through art, advocacy, and activism, we seek to challenge mainstream representation and destabilize the gender binary. Starting dialogue is one of the best places to begin when it comes to addressing gender inequality. Showcasing films is the second best place. These films that our platform is based upon reaffirm our right to tell our own stories. Women, gender non-conforming, Black, Indigenous, and multiracial communities deserve this space.”

No Man’s Land is a service-minded, community-oriented arts and advocacy non-profit organization that seeks to break patterns and cycles of harm individually, collectively, and globally. With strong roots in feminism, No Man’s Land champions emerging and established voices of the global majority with respect and support through exclusive premieres, conversations, and live performances.

The Festival was founded in 2015 as a response to the lack of women-representation in the larger outdoor media and has grown to become the premier adventure film festival for women and gender non-conforming athletes and filmmakers to inspire a radically inclusive, equitable, accessible, intersectional, and just future for all. All genders are welcome, and No Man’s Land encourages everyone to attend to evolve and expand our capacity for compassion and creation within the self, the community, and the cosmos.
