Apply to Study Abroad

The deadline to study abroad during 2024-25 has passed. 

Middlebury students interested in applying to study away during 2025-26:

1. Complete the Registration of Intent to Study Away – DEADLINE NOVEMBER 1, 2024
   
   The Registration of Intent to Study Away (DEADLINE NOVEMBER 1) asks students to select their term(s) off-campus (fall, spring, year, and flexible) along with justification for selection of the term(s). This Registration of Intent is non-binding but a required step in the application process. If you do not complete this step by the November 1 deadline you will be ineligible to study away during 2025-26.
   
   All students will be assigned a term following submission of the Registration of Intent to Study Away. Term assignments will be distributed to students the week of November 18. Students may petition their term assignments but switches of term assignments are limited in order to ensure an on-campus enrollment balance. For Middlebury, a small, residential liberal arts college with a large participation rate in study away, it is very important to manage a balanced enrollment between the fall and spring semester. The on-campus academic program, housing, and student activities could be undermined if there is a striking imbalance between study away semester enrollments.

2. Apply to Study Away — DEADLINE FEBRUARY 1, 2025
   
   The deadline to apply to study away during 2025-26 (fall, spring, year) is February 1, 2025. Please note: You must complete the Registration of Intent to Study Away (see above) by November 1, 2024 in order to apply.

Externally Sponsored Program Deadlines

Students applying to externally sponsored programs must apply to their programs by their respective deadlines (beware of rolling admissions—many programs fill long before their deadlines!). This is a separate process from the Middlebury application process. 

Students applying to externally-sponsored programs and universities must complete the Registration of Intent to Study Away by November 1 and the Middlebury Study Abroad Application by February 1.
