Middlebury College Museum of Art, Overbrook Gallery

In acknowledgment and celebration of the centenary of Middlebury’s German Language School, the museum features selections from its own collection of German art. This exhibition is organized by the museum’s Sabarsky Graduate Fellow and is generously supported by a grant from the Serge and Vally Sabarsky Foundation, New York. Free

PTP/NYC: Showing of Works-in-Progress

The Middlebury College affiliated professional theatre company PTP/NYC (formerly known as Potomac Theatre Project) hosts a public work in progress showing of David Edgar's award-winning play Pentecost. The New York production will feature a largely new company, one still spearheaded by Alex Draper and Tosca Giustini. The PTP/NYC season opens in New York on July 8 at Atlantic Stage 2 and will run through August 10.  The cast for Pentecost will include professional Equity actors working alongside Middlebury College theatre students. Sheldon Museum's Pops Concert: Vermont Philharmonic

7:30 PM, Grounds behind the Mahaney Center for the Arts

The Sheldon Museum’s annual outdoor Pops Concert and fireworks are a Vermont summer tradition for Lake Champlain area families and tourists. Celebrate the anniversary of Independence Day with a concert of Broadway standards, pops, and patriotic music performed by the Vermont Philharmonic. The concert takes place in the meadow behind Middlebury College's Mahaney Center for the Arts, with commanding views of the Green Mountains, followed by a glorious fireworks display. The grounds will open at 5:30 PM for picnicking, with the concert beginning at 7:30. (Rain site is in the adjacent Middlebury College athletic complex.) The evening will close with vivid fireworks–rain or shine. Be sure to bring flashlights, chairs, blankets, and a picnic.Tickets: Adult $25, Youth $10; children under 12 admitted free; adult tickets purchased by June 22: $20; on sale at  802.388.2117, or at the Sheldon Museum at 1 Park Street in Middlebury.
