Funding Options for Summer: Student Internships, Research, Service, Social Entrepreneurship and Projects
Many offices on campus support student participation in a range of summer opportunities through information, advising and funding. Below are Middlebury funding sources for current Middlebury undergraduates.
Please read carefully as these funds have different purposes, requirements, and deadlines. If you have questions, contact the office that manages the funding source. Also review the additional FAQ section for more information. For information about Middlebury summer programs see middlebury.edu/summer.

FAQs
How do I apply for funding?
Review the funding description, application process and deadlines on the linked opportunities pages. Do you and your project meet the criteria? Do you have all the required information for the application? If you have questions, contact the appropriate person in that office.
Can I apply to more than one funding source for the same project?
Yes, you may apply as long as it meets the criteria for both funding sources AND you note on your applications all funding sources you are applying to. If you apply for another source of funding afterward, it is expected you will update any earlier funding applications with that information. In most cases, you will only be funded through one office -- the main exception is the possibility of combining a cross-cultural community service grant with other funding. If your project is expensive, receiving funding from Middlebury may not cover all of your expenses but may make it more possible.
Can I combine internships and research during the summer and get funding for both?
Again, it is possible but it depends on the proposal details. You should not expect, however, that research funding will support unpaid internship experiences. You should discuss your project/research proposals in advance with the offices you are seeking funding from.
Does CCI support unpaid summer research positions?
CCI internship funding can support unpaid undergraduate research positions off-campus with non-Middlebury faculty/researchers. Students conducting summer research with Middlebury faculty are supported through the Undergraduate Research Office in CTLR, not through CCI internship funding.
Which offices provide summer funding?
The listed opportunities are from the following offices:
Center for Careers and Internships (CCI) go/summerfunding
Center for Community Engagement (CCE) go/cce
Center for Creativity, Innovation & Social Entrepreneurship (CCISE) go/ccise
Rohatyn Center for Global Affairs (RCGA) go/rcga
Undergraduate Research in the CTLR go/uro
Are there other sources of funding on campus?
This list contains the primary sources of funding for student research, internships, and projects. Other offices and programs may provide small sources of funding. Talk with faculty, commons deans, and staff for other ideas.
