The Reunion Committee plays a crucial role in planning for your class’s 50th Reunion, encouraging your classmates to attend and soliciting contributions for the class gift. It is the leadership and work of our Reunion volunteers that make Middlebury’s Reunions so successful, both socially and financially, so thank you for coming on board!

50th Reunion Chairs

  • Work in close coordination with Middlebury staff to lead the programming and fundraising efforts for your class.
  • Recruit and oversee committees.
  • Build momentum around Reunion Weekend and fundraising efforts through outreach and engagement.
  • Attend the virtual Alumni Leadership Conference and participate in conference calls.
  • Personalize letters to your classmates, using drafts provided by your staff liaison.
  • Lead by example by committing to a personally significant 50th Reunion gift.

Social Committee

Social Committee Chairs

  • Oversee the work of the Social Committee.
  • Work with College staff to plan the Reunion schedule.
  • Attend the virtual Alumni Leadership Conference and participate in conference calls to coordinate efforts with fellow volunteers and College staff.

Social Committee Members

  • Partner with College staff to plan social aspects of the 50th Reunion Weekend, such as class panels, memorial service, veterans’ talk, Moth-style storytelling, women’s circle, faculty lectures, active outings, etc.
  • Attend the virtual Alumni Leadership Conference and participate in conference calls to coordinate efforts with fellow volunteers and College staff.
  • Reach out to your classmates in person, on social media, or by phone to encourage them to attend.

Yearbook Committee

Yearbook Committee Chairs

  • Oversee and mentor the work of the Yearbook Committee.

  • Work with College staff to set timelines for communicating with classmates, gathering biographical information and photos, selecting material from old yearbooks and College archives, and writing and editing text.

  • Personalize letters inviting classmates to submit their autobiographies.

  • Make final editorial and layout decisions in partnership with your staff liaison and designer.

  • Attend the summer yearbook work session and the fall virtual Alumni Leadership Conference, and participate in conference calls.

Yearbook Committee Members 

  • Design your class’s 50th Reunion yearbook.

  • Identify sections of the yearbook. Set up subcommittees to write/request articles, memories, and “Middlebury Moments.” Solicit and submit photos. Edit autobiographies and compile entries for deceased classmates.

  • Spend time in the College archives locating photos and articles, and researching obituary information.

  • Attend the summer yearbook work session and the fall virtual Alumni Leadership Conference, and participate in conference calls.

Gift Committee

  • Lead by example by committing to a personally significant 50th Reunion gift.

  • Identify and solicit classmates for leadership-level gifts.

  • Personalize letters to your classmates, using drafts provided by your staff liaison.

  • Set class-gift goals in partnership with your staff liaison.

  • Mentor and monitor Gift Committee volunteers. Rally your committee to make giving challenges successful.

  • Attend the virtual Alumni Leadership Conference and participate in conference calls.

Gift Committee Members 

  • Select classmates to contact regarding a 50th Reunion gift and to encourage to attend Reunion.

  • Reach out to classmates, ideally in person, on social media, or by phone, to ask for their support.

  • Attend the virtual Alumni Leadership Conference and participate in conference calls to hear updates from the College, share fundraising successes with your peers, and plan next steps.
