We hope this finds you and your loved ones healthy and safe. As Middlebury and the entire country take measures to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, we are aware that our participants, prospective participants, and wider community have questions about the Bread Loaf Environmental Writers’ Conference for summer 2020.
As we work to ensure academic continuity in this period of great disruption, we strive to be as adaptable and responsive as possible. As we all do our part to help limit the spread of COVID-19, it has become increasingly clear that our spring Commencement celebration cannot take place as planned, in-person, on Saturday, May 16. Our celebrations will instead be adapted to be a series of virtual events. We would also like to invite all members of the spring 2020 graduating class, and their families, to participate in a future ceremony of their choice. At any future ceremony in which 2020 graduates participate, they will be celebrated and recognized as members of this class.

I write with a follow-up to the announcement that Middlebury courses will be taught remotely for the rest of the semester. We know that many of you are eager to learn about our policy regarding credits and refunds for room and board. Thank you for your patience as we have worked through a host of issues related to COVID-19. Below is information about the policy for students at the College and students of the Middlebury Schools Abroad.
We know that many of you are understandably curious about the Room Draw process for next year, and are writing with an update. First, rest assured that we will be running Room Draw for the 20/21 academic year as soon as possible.
