A Middlebury student shares calligraphy techniques with local 5th graders

Language in Motion (LiM) is an educational collaboration that connects Middlebury’s international, study abroad, and upper level language students with Addison County elementary, middle, and high school teachers, students, and classrooms.

Spring 2025 applications for Language in Motion are now open!

Apply now to be a student presenter for Language in Motion for Spring 2025! Deadline to apply is Sunday, February 23.

With support and training, Middlebury College students prepare and deliver lessons that promote global awareness, intercultural competence, and world language acquisition.

How It Works

LiM presentations are designed to support the host teacher’s learning objectives. School-age children gain new exposure to diverse culture, language, and experience, and the opportunities that college can offer. Middlebury College students gain exposure to the elementary and secondary teaching environment and deepen their international and intercultural experience through personal and shared reflection.

Application Details

Applications to join Language in Motion are open early in the Fall and Spring semesters. Fall applications are open during September, and spring applications are open during February. Keep an eye out during the year for specific application deadlines each semester.

Applications for Spring 2025 are now open! Apply by Sunday, February 23 to become a student presenter for this spring semester.

A National Consortium

Active at Middlebury since 2014, LiM was founded at Juniata College in 2000 and has since been implemented at thirteen other colleges and universities. The Middlebury College LiM program was made possible at Middlebury through the generous support of the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations as well as the support of our consortium partners.

Drive for LiM

LiM is looking for students to help drive students to and from local K-12 schools to deliver their lessons. You need a college license in order to drive.
