Alex Holznienkemper completed his B.A. and M.A at the University of Arizona and his Ph.D. at Ohio State University. He is a recent recipient of the Excellence in Teaching award for the College of Liberal Arts at the University of New Hampshire. He teaches a broad array of courses, from introductory language classes to advanced seminars on Transnational German authors, German soccer culture and collective identity to an Honors course on American criminal justice. His research focuses on critical social theory, religion and secularism, and contemporary German literature. He is currently on the cusp of establishing the New Hampshire Prison Education Project which will create a degree pathway for incarcerated men and women in the state of NH.
