Though a Vermonter by birth, Holly Stark spent decades away from her home state working in ski areas as a waitress, bartender, cab driver and bicycle tour leader. Having taught gymnastics since her teen years, she eventually went to college and graduate school to become a teacher, sometimes of writing, but mostly of English as a Second Language. Still on the go, Stark taught at the University of Denver, Yale, Franklin University in Lugano, Switzerland, the University of Pittsburgh, and Middlebury College. In 2011, she moved to administration in the Language Schools. Though currently serving as the Graduate Assistant Director of the School of Spanish, she earned her MA from the French School. (That was its name in the 1990’s!) She and her husband raised one son and live in Middlebury. Like many of her colleagues, she is a Nordic skier and hiker, but found a new passion while her son was little that continues: hockey.
